Tablerunner and a new bag

I have been sewing like a mad woman all weekend, I got my table runner finished, now its ready to be quilted. It was fun and quick to make. Its just the right size for my kitchen table. Here is a new bag I recieved from sarah for our Friends in Stitching swap, I love it, Sarah did such a good job. Its a pattern by Lynette Anderson and its made in reproduction fabrics. Oh Sarah you know me so well.

The back of the bag is just as beautiful as the front, you are so clever Sarah. Thankyou.

This is the bag I made for Kerry for the swap, I have made a few of these bags. Rules for the swap were you had to have stitchery and ric rac on the bag. I thought mine turned out really well,

I used Rosalie Quinlan fabric and stitchery pattern. I'm glad you like it Kerry.

Cooking and sewing

which do you like best? For me its sewing everytime. I get the urge to cook at times and I like to make lunch box treats for the boys. This morning I worked on a block for "Remember when" quilt by Libby Richardson, this is sample for the shop, when I finish I'll show a photo. I also made a start on a table runner that I have had in the planning for ages. Today I sewed many 4 patches and half square triangles. This is what I have made so far. 4 rows together and I love it already. The fabric is Collections for a cause, of course its a beautiful reproduction range, my favourite kind.

In between sewing my blocks I made these 2 cakes, don't they look yummy.

I also made this Lemon and passion fruit slice, the boys got into it before I was ready to take photo. Its so easy to make I thought I would share the recipe with you.

Lemon and passion fruit slice.
1 cup of Self raising flour
1 cup of desiccated coconut
1/2 cup castor sugar
125 grqams of melted butter
TOPPING
395 gram tin of condensed milk
1/2 cup of lemon juice
1/4 cup of passionfruit pulp (I bought a tin)
Preheat oven 180 degrees C
Mix dry ingredients and make a well in the middle, make a well in the middle and pour in melted butter. Mix well. Press firmly into the bottom of a tin lined with baking paper.
Cook for 12 minutes or until golden.
Combine topping ingredients and pour over base and bake a further 8-10 minutes. Until the top is set.
Allow to cool and chill over night.
Lift slice from tray and peel away paper, cut into pieces and drizzle with extra passionfruit.
Enjoy.

Dear Jane

Yesterday we had our Dear Jane class, it was just the 3 of us which was nice. I finished an applique block and yesterday morning before the class I made the other 2 blocks. I have made about 40 blocks so far. I am enjoying this quilt but I don't know if I'll ever make the whole thing, maybe I'll make a mini Dear jane.

I did treat myself to a new book that we got in the shop on Friday. I have been looking at this book for ages. I love anything to do with the olden days, I will enjoy reading the letters among the patterns.
I hope you found some sewing time this weekend.

Happy mothers day

I have had a wonderful mothers day, my boys spoilt me with lovely gifts. Jacob made me some hand cream, his class went on an excursion last week and they all made hand cream. Nicky made me a beautiful pick point card, can you see it below. Its a picture of 2 birds, he did such a good job. Daniel gave me some flowers and from all the boys they gave me season 7 of Little House on the prairie, I did ask for this gift as I love these old episodes. I hope all mums out there had a very special day.

I've been on holiday

I have just came back from 5 lovely days in Sunny Queensland, I went to visit my parents and surprise my mum for her birthday. My brother, sister and I all met at the airport as we live all over the country so it was a mission in itself trying to arrange flights so we all got there around the same time. Dad picked us up and took us home. Thats when we surprised mum. It was wonderful.Every morning I went for a walk along the beach, I watched some people surfing and just enjoyed the view.
I wanted to go to Patchwork angel quilt shop which was a nice place to visit, I bought these 2 buttons and pattern.

The lady who owns the shop offered to take my photo,

It was an unusal little shop, the building was very plain on the outside but full of lots of lovely goodies on the inside.
The week went so fast, now I'm home and trying to get warm, its quite chilly here today. I missed my family so I'm happy to be back with them. The boys are looking foreward to some home cooked food as my husband is not that great in the kitchen unless you like rice and tuna. I hope you all have a nice weekend and happy mothers day tomorrow to all the aussie mums.
